Eric has been on the Board of Directors at Edmond Mobile Meals since 2021. Eric has served as Chairperson of the resource development committee and is a loyal meal delivery volunteer. He enthusiastically volunteers at each EMM event and keeps us laughing with his incredible stories. He is dedicated to the success of our organization’s growth and ability to serve seniors in need immediately. We are so grateful to Eric for his time, his humor and his devotion to making our community a wonderful place to live! Check out the Q&A with Eric below:

Q: How did you initially get involved with Edmond Mobile Meals?

A: A mutual friend and previous Board Member, Liz Haralson, reached out to me and suggested I might be a good fit for EMM. And she was right! I’ve loved my time here and owe her a big time “Thank You!”

Q: How long have you served on the Board of Directors?

A: Well…that’s a great question! It only feels like I’ve been here a few months, but this will be my fifth year. It may feel longer for Cristi and the staff!

Q: What is it about the EMM mission that is meaningful to you?

A: The EMM mission addresses the needs of our most vulnerable citizens. While fighting food insecurity among our seniors is a priority, the organization also provides a sense of belonging and community.

Q: What is your favorite thing about serving on the Board of Directors at EMM?

A: Serving on the Board is an absolute honor! I really enjoy working alongside such a diverse and talented group. Each member genuinely cares about the mission and wants to do whatever it takes to succeed. The creative problem-solving sessions are probably my favorite aspect of serving.

Q: What are you most excited about for the future of Edmond Mobile Meals?

A: The thing that excites me most about the future for EMM is the partnership with City of Edmond officials. Over the past few years, the bond has only strengthened. It’s exciting to see that officials are invested in our organization and see the value we bring. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the work EMM does with the next generation of leaders as well. They’re doing really exciting things with the Youth Leadership program!

Q: Why do you believe it is important to serve others in your community?

A: I’m a firm believer in acts of service. My Dad used to say “Anyone can talk the talk. Not many will walk the walk.” It’s a passion I want my kids to see and emulate. There are so many people in need. If there’s even a chance that I can do anything to help brighten someone’s day or meet a need, I want to make sure I can help.

Q: Anything else you'd like to share about your experiences at Edmond Mobile Meals?

A: I’ve met so many awesome people during my time with EMM. The staff are the best! It’s always great to see people thriving in their roles and their energy is infectious. The Board members are so talented and driven in to succeed. It really is inspiring. Lastly, our clients/extended family make it all worthwhile. The organization has grown so much in just the past few years. Can’t wait to see what’s next! Lastly, not a big secret but Chef Toni is hilarious!
