To say this has been a monumental year for Edmond Mobile Meals is an understatement of enormous proportions. In the past 12 months, this organization has undergone 2 moves, a complete building renovation, and celebrated our 50^thAnniversary of service in Edmond.

The list of individuals, civic groups, local businesses and City of Edmond officials to thank could be wrapped around the building. This organization is one of community collaboration and connectedness, and we wouldn’t be where we are right now without hundreds of people who have given time and resources to support the mission of Edmond Mobile Meals.

After 10 months of operating from a temporary location at the Edmond Senior Center, we have moved back into our beautifully renovated building. We are simply in awe of the new space. We have a kitchen that is now double its original size, and with room to grow to meet the needs of seniors in Edmond for decades to come. Starting now. We’ve already served more meals through August of 2024 than we did in the entirety of 2021.

We’ve been talking about the aging of the US population for some time, and the front end of the Baby Boomer wave crossing into older age is arriving right now. We’ve signed up over 200 new clients this year and are serving an average of 50 meals a day for the Senior Center lunch program. We know that our program has been effective in addressing senior hunger and isolation for 50 years, and we are now able to meet the need for the next 50.

Did you know that only 1% of philanthropic donations in the United States go towards senior causes, and volunteerism is at its lowest in nearly 20 years.

With your help, we can commit to delivering meals to serve seniors in Edmond more effectively with new programming. We can commit to never putting a senior in need on a waiting list. We can understand our community so that we can meet their unique needs. We can identify and address unmet needs of homebound seniors. We can create new collaborations to maximize the impact of like-minded organizations and people.
