April 17-23 is designated as National Volunteer Appreciation Week, but here at Edmond Mobile Meals we want our volunteers to know they are appreciated all year long! We look forward to celebrating this month with our amazing volunteers with special events and recognitions.

The theme of the 2022 volunteer appreciation week is “Better Together”, and we can’t think of a more appropriate way to describe how volunteers in Edmond contribute to making this community an amazing place to live.

Volunteering brings people together. It builds communities and creates a better society for everyone. At Edmond Mobile Meals, our volunteers are the heart of our mission. We are BETTER TOGETHER!

Last year nearly 400 dedicated volunteers served over 4,600 shifts and 10,000 hours at Edmond Mobile Meals! Our volunteers helped us package, pick up & deliver bulk and restaurant provided meals through April, and when it was safe to return to our daily operations in May, we had a full team of cooks in our kitchen alongside Chef Toni preparing meals and volunteer drivers covering 15 daily routes each weekday! Our baking team and prep squads returned last summer as well to help us make those extra special treats for our clients. Volunteer groups also returned from local businesses, churches, and civic groups.

We could not do this important work without the ongoing support of loving and dedicated volunteers. You are the backbone of our organization.

We’d like to take a moment to highlight a few of our special volunteers:

• Landis Legge – Delivered 180 routes in 2021
• Debi Smulyan – Delivered 104 routes in 2021
• Dave Wright – Delivered 96 routes in 2021
• Karen Janjua, Janice Bunas, Nina Loeffler & Linda McFall – Each served over 200 hours in our kitchen during 2021

Thank you to each person who takes time from their busy lives to volunteer with us at Edmond Mobile Meals. Because of you, we can make sure that no senior ever goes hungry in Edmond!
